The official announcement of the honours and awards approved by H.M. the Queen for officers and men of the Royal Navy, the Army, and the Royal Air Force who fought in the South Atlantic in order to re-take the Falkland Islands in 1982. Includes the posthumous Victoria Cross awarded to Lt.Col. Herbert Jones of the Parachute Regiment. The devasting display of courage by Colonel Jones completely undermined the will of the enemy to fight on and they surrendered as the 2nd Battalion of the regiment pushed on to regain and liberate Darwin and Goose Green. Also includes awards to those aboard H.M. Ships GLAMORGAN, INVINCIBLE, BROADSWORD, BRILLIANT, INTREPID, FEARLESS, ARGONAUT, HERMES, PLYMOUTH, CONQUEROR, SHEFFIELD, ARROW, ALACRITY, YARMOUTH, ARDENT, etc. Also, the RFA’s SIR GALAHAD, SIR TRISTRAM, SIR GERAINT, SIR PERCIVALE, etc. Admiral Sir Terence Lewin was made a Life Peer for his part.
