The first commissioning book for the frigate HMS BRAVE launched by Yarrow at Glasgow in 1983, joining the fleet in 1985 under the command of Captain W. C. McKnight, LVO., RN. The book, profusely illustrated, describes her construction, trials, acceptance, various departments, weapons, statistics, and associations. She was a Type 22 Class frigate (successors to the Leanders), her primary role being anti-submarine warfare. This, her first commission, took place between 1985 and 1987 and later, in 1991, she took part in the Gulf War. She was sunk as a target ship in 2004.
