The Infantry Journal, Washington, 1st ed., 1945. Xix + 218 pp., 11 maps + 90 b&w ills., of insignia in text, replicated in 8 full-colour plates at rear. Red cloth ; 24 x 16cm. 4cm chip to cloth at foot of spine o/w V.G. This book was an attempt to assemble for the first time, enough material on every American Army Division that took part in World War II to give the average citizen a clear idea of what each had done. Wherever possible, the account of their accomplishments was based on reports prepared by the Divisions themselves that, largely for security reasons, could not be released earlier in the war. This book is accompanied by 11 maps and striking coloured plates of divisional shoulder insignia.
