Edinburgh, Cambridge & Durham, 1st.ed., 1995. 206 pp., photo-ills., etc. D.j. 22 x 14cm. FINE. [See No. 126 above] After painting a general picture of life at sea before the war, the author provides a personal account of life at sea in seven merchant ships during the war itself : S/S VOCO, S/S LANCASTER CASTLE, S/S LOWTHER CASTLE, S/S POLLUX II, S/S FORT MAUREPAS, S/S SAMWAKE, and S/S EDWARD BRUCE. He devotes a chapter to each of the seven vessels, with further chapters on convoys and DEMS. Illustrated with photographs, maps and facsimiles.
