Compiled at the request of the Government of India, under the direction of the Historical Section of the Committee of Imperial Defence, this is the third volume in the official history of the Campaign in Mesopotamia, 1914 ' 1918. Originally intended as a three-volume work, the study was later extended to a fourth volume due to its extensiveness. This third volume deals with operations between May 1916 and 30th April 1917 and comes complete with a total of ten photograph plates and fifteen partly-coloured and folding maps, ten of which are held in a rear pocket. This copy of Volume III is sold with an accompanying First Edition reading copy of Volume II (see notes in data).
