Dickens, Captain Peter.

1st.ed., 1974. Xiii + 242 pp., 18 photo-plates + 25 maps & plans. D.j., 22 x 14cm. Nr.FINE. The author commanded the 21st MTB Flotilla during World War II, and describes the actions fought in the North Sea and in the English Channel, supplementing his own records with German naval reports. Captain Dickens adds humour to his account of life as a young naval officer in charge of a flotilla of MTBs ; the patrols and operations that were expected of them even though most of the band had little previous sea-going experience. He describes their encounters with E-boats and other enemy vessels, and the appendices provide details of British and German coastal forces and operational statistics
