This is a superb photographic survey of the Great War which was originally issued in over sixty parts but is available here in the more convenient bound form comprising three volumes as follows : Volume I : 1914 – 1916 ; Volume II : 1916 - 1918 ; and Volume III : Supplementary Volume. This was the first extensive work to use the technique of before and after photographs which went on to become the format of Winston Ramsey’s After the Battle series. All fronts of the war are covered with particular emphasis on France and Flanders.
