This is the story of the famous last full-rigged composite passenger clipper ever launched, the TORRENS. The ship was built for the Australian trade at Sunderland in 1875 and was the last word in composite ship construction, skilfully built using only the finest materials. The first part of the book tells of her fast passage from Plymouth to Port Adelaide in 1887-1888 under the command of Captain H. R. Angel who was also the principal owner of the ship. The latter part of the book, The Convoy, describes a voyage during the First World War from Port Said to London in convoy from a passenger's point of view. SCARCE.
