HMSO, 1st ed., 1989. Xix + 265 pp., cold., frontis., + 25 photo-plates + 8 cold., & b&w maps, 1 of which is fldg. D.j., 22 x 14cm. FINE. This is an authoritative study of Royal Air Force operations in the Mediterranean theatre during the post-war years 1945 - 1986, after which time Britain withdrew the majority of her forces from that area. This book, well supported with maps, some in colour, and also photographs, traces the development of Britain’s defence policy as it affected the Mediterranean theatre during those years, and pays particular attention to the Palestine campaign, the Suez crisis and the British withdrawal from Malta. Nicely illustrated.
