The Aviation Hobby Shop, 1st ed., thus, 2000. 320 pp., numerous cold., + b&w photo-ills., + ills. Blank remains of small owner’s label to top of f.f.e.p., o/w FINE. Originally published as a four-volume set in 1975-76 as British Independent Airlines since 1946, this work is the result of many years of research into the fascinating world of British air transport since the lifting of the ban on private flying on January 1 1946. Whilst not claiming to have written a complete history of Britain’s post-war private airline industry, the author hoped the book would go some way to filling a gap in aviation history, which had previously been left unrecorded. The information contained in the histories and fleet lists within this volume came from a very large number of varying sources and, printed alphabetically, they are accompanied by a generous number of coloured as well as black & white photographs. SCARCE.
