This volume of text in the official history of the Great War, based on official documents, contains an account of the winter of 1914 – 1915 and of the Allied plans for the spring campaign in 1915. It goes on to include a chapter on the expansion of the Army’s munitions up to the formation of the Ministry of Munitions ; and the narratives of the Battle of Neuve Chapelle, and of the Battle of Ypres 1915, that long series of combats which, beginning with the first gas attack on 22nd April, lasted until 25th May.
