Volume 3 only, complete in itself for the period of the Second World War. Gale & Polden, Aldershot, 1st ed., 1955. Xiii + 294 pp., frontis., + 3 photo-plates + 25 maps. D.j., 24 x 16cm. Some fading to d.j., o/w V.G.+. This is the third and final volume in the trilogy of The Royal Hampshire Regiment and is complete in itself for the period 1918 – 1954. It commences with the twenty years of uneasy inter-war peace (in Turkey and Ireland, among other places) and then follows the paths of the six battalions the Regiment put into the field in the Second World War. These battalions, by their service in Malta, North Africa, Sicily, Italy and North-West Europe, in addition to other theatres, added their share to the very varied service of the Regiment, and in doing so won three Victoria Crosses. This book closes as the Regiment faces the new problems of a no less uneasy peace in 1954. With photograph-plates and maps.
