1st ed., 1970. 158 pp., profusely illustrated with cold., photo-plates + b&w photo-ills., + ills. D.j., 25 x 19cm. FINE. JAMBO was probably seen by more people than any other balloon in the world. Built to drift over the big game herds of Africa she made five such flights. After Africa she soared another fifty-five times, over the Alps and the English Channel, for films and in races, over England and the Continent. In the end she blew up, without injuring anyone else, in a field near Lewes in Sussex. This book contains the best of JAMBO including the invasion of a funeral and the hazard of being shot at. Her owner, the author, is also known for his book about JAMBO in Africa, Throw Out Two Hands.
