3rd imp. 1996. 127 pp., profusely illustrated with cold. plates + b&w photo-ills., + ills. + maps & plans. D.j., 32 x 24cm. Nr.FINE. The authors’ former book Uniforms and Equipment of the Light Brigade is now very scarce and although they went on to produce other books on the British Artillery and Infantry in the Crimea, they never completed the series with a book on the Heavy Brigade. With this new volume the situation has been rectified. A revised and corrected text on the Light Brigade has been combined with entirely new sections on the uniforms and equipment of the Heavy Brigade, on Regimental Organisation, Formations and Movements, and on the general progress of the campaign up to and including the Battle of Balaclava. The text is illustrated with eight superb colour plates of the uniforms and equipment described, as well as a wealth of black and white photographs, illustrations, maps and plans. A very attractive record of the Light Brigade and the Heavy Brigade.
