The author illustrates with one or more photographs and a three-view general arrangement drawing, every main type of British naval plane. He also gives their operational history and technical specifications, and examines the vessels that have carried naval aircraft, from single-plane ships to large fleet carriers. More than a hundred main types of aircraft are included, ranging from the Avro 504 to the Wright ‘converted’ Seaplanes. The appendices cover a further 130 types including naval airships under the control of the Royal Navy during the First World War.
