Published in 1944, here are the recollections of a surgeon who practised in Burma during the Second World War. The first part of the book coves the author's arrival in Burma and building a hospital. The second part, entitled 'Burma Road', includes chapters on The Plague, Malaria and Airplanes, and Medical Officer on the Burma Road, amongst a couple of others. The final and most substantial part of the book is concerned with the Battle of Burma in which the author recalls his vivid experiences and offers an alternative perspective on such conflicts as occurred in Imphal and Assam. Illustrated with ten photograph plates and a folding map.
