Originally published for Private Circulation in the British Army of the Rhine, this book was an attempt to present a factual account of the part played by 21 Army Group in the conquest of Germany during the campaign in North-West Europe from June 1944 to May 1945, whilst events were still fresh in the author's mind. The subject matter is based on Montgomery’s personal papers and it reveals his first-hand impressions of the changes as they took place. The result is a valuable record of events, superbly written and supported by a total of three diagrams and forty-seven maps, many partly coloured and folding. This copy is sold on the value of it having all the maps present because pages 67-82 inclusive are lacking and appear not to have been bound in.
