This journal of the Household Brigade for 1868 gives an interesting insight into the Army at this time. The first part of the book provides Regimental Lists for the First Life Guards, Second Life Guards, Royal Horse Guards, Grenadier Guards, Coldstream Guards, Scots Fusilier Guards, Militia, Yeomanry Cavalry and Volunteers. The second part of the book goes on to give regimental information on various sports and other subjects such as Brigade Miscellany, Volunteers, Regimental Dinners, Concerts, Military Fetes at Wellington and Chelsea Barracks, Brigade Peers and Members of Parliament, Army Reform, Reserve Forces, Notes of a Tour in Egypt and in Norway, and so on. This is an attractively bound book and it includes two guarded plates.
