TERMS OF SALE:     For UK our terms are strictly C.O.R. for known customers (a pro-forma invoice may be sent at our discretion to new customers). Postage is extra, and an invoice will be enclosed with payment due by return please. For OVERSEAS customers a pro-forma invoice will be sent Airmail and parcels dispatched upon receipt of your payment. Please advise whether you prefer Air or Surface mail, otherwise we will use our discretion.  For European customers especially, we recommend payment by Credit/Debit Card.   Title to any goods does not transfer from the seller until payment is received in full, in accordance with British law.

DISPATCH:     For UK customers parcels will either be sent Royal Mail or, depending on weight, by our carrier Business Post if this is the cheaper option or if other circumstances dictate.

For OVERSEAS customers we send ‘surface' or ‘airmail' at our discretion unless otherwise instructed.

For both UK & OVERSEAS we add a small charge for packing.

VAT:     THERE IS NO VAT ON BOOKS FROM THE UNITED KINGDOM. There is, however, VAT payable to certain customers on certain Ephemeral items - please refer to the Ephemera section for details. E.C. customers (other than UK) must advise their VAT REGISTRATION NUMBER if they are registered for VAT/TVA even when buying books only.

CREDIT & DEBIT CARDS:     We accept the following Cards: Mastercard & Debit Mastercard, Visa & Visa Delta, JCB,  Maestro & UK Maestro, Solo, Electron, and Pin Train.  We do not charge for payments by Credit or Debit Cards. Please remember to include your Security Code (last 3 digits on back of card) and if a UK customer your correct Post Code & House Number. Thank you.

CONDITION:     All books are published in London and are in original bindings unless otherwise stated. Minor inscriptions are ignored and measurements are to the nearest cm. We are meticulous in describing books, and most of our dust jackets come with high-quality protective sleeves.   Our aim is to provide our customers with a friendly, reliable and efficient service.

Right to cancel

You have  the right to cancel this contract within 14 days without giving any reason.

The cancellation period will expire after 14 days from the day on which you acquire, or a third party other than the carrier and indicated by you acquires, physical possession of the last delivered goods that are covered by this contract.

of your decision to cancel this contract by a clear statement (e.g. a letter sent by post, fax or e-mail). It is not obligatory but you may use the enclosed model cancellation form if you wish.

To meet the cancellation deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right to cancel before the cancellation period has expired.

Effects of cancellation

If you cancel this contract, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (except for the supplementary costs arising if you choose a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us).

We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you.

We will make the reimbursement without undue delay, and not later than –

(a)      14 days after the day we receive back from you any goods supplied, or

(b)           (if earlier) 14 days after the day you provide evidence that you have returned the goods, or

(c)            if there were no goods supplied, 14 days after the day on which we are informed about your decision to cancel this contract.

We will make the reimbursements using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise ; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of the reimbursement. We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back or you have supplied evidence of having sent back the goods, whichever is the earliest. 

Purchaser to return goods

You shall send back the goods or hand them over to us, Marine & Cannon Books (Address and other contact details as above), without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which you communicate your cancellation from this contract to us. The deadline is met if you send back the goods before the period of 14 days has expired.

You will have to bear the direct cost of returning the goods, except in the case where the goods are faulty or wrongly described, in which case we will cover the return postage providing the cheapest method is used, unless the alternative is agreed by us.

You are only liable for any diminished value of the goods resulting from handling that is not necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods.
Additional information
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 it is our legal duty to supply goods that are in conformity with the contract.
For our complaint handling policy, we would ask you to come directly to us in the first instance, and we will do our utmost to satisfy your grievance. In the unlikely event that we are unable to do so, we would  refer you to the Antiquarian Booksellers’ Association (ABA) of which we are a member, and their  Standards Committee.
The consumer has recourse to an out-of-court complaint and redress mechanism, such redress being available through or trade association, the Antiquarian Booksellers’ Association (ABA).
